Melissa Farrar Auberty obtained a BFA from SMU Meadows School of the Arts in 1979. She became a Graphic Designer and photographer for American Airlines magazine, and later a freelance photographer, living on sailing vessels in the Caribbean, West Indies, Tahiti and Costa Rica. She operated a design company for several years and managed art galleries in New York and Los Angeles, studied art at NYU, produced a video of the Paris Air Show and helped sponsor the first Monaco/New York sailing race. In 1992 Auberty moved to Dallas, returning to her Texas roots. She has had a number of one woman shows, is represented by various galleries, and is known for her expressionistic Blue Horses, abstract landscapes and figurative bronze sculptures.
